John A. Pagenstecher charted the course for what would eventually become PAGENSTECHER GROUP when he established a residential remodeling firm committed to integrity. His integrity when dealing with clients and tradesmen alike set a tone which carried forth into the design and construction of John's work -- as it does in ours today.
John came to the world of remodeling relatively late in life; having completed a career in both the federal government and the private sector, and with his children successfully launched, he seized the opportunity to pursue a lifelong interest in architecture. Joining forces with Tom Rixey, AIA -- a respected architect and builder of rigorously detailed traditional homes in Bethesda and Potomac -- John refined his talent for design and construction.
With an unerring instinct for craftsmanship and design, John established his own firm -- John A. Pagenstecher, Builder -- in 1981 and, in doing so, laid the cornerstone of our present-day firm.
John retired in 1998 to Oxford, Maryland and now divides his time between sailing and traveling.
